So I may sound like a total dork for saying I did not know this, but, Uber now has female drivers?! I just found this out last night. After getting into a Pinot Grigio/Scotch-fueled argument with my sister, I decided that it was best if I just got me a ride from Uber instead of having her drop me off at home as originally planned. Even in my tipsy state, I was a bit apprehensive because of all the bad stories that have been circulating about Uber AND 1) I was alone 2) I’d be getting dropped off at an empty home because my husband was out of town and 3) the next closest person was my sister and at the time she probably wouldn’t mind too much if someone killed me. Okay, that last part is not really true, but she really was angry with me :/
Anyway.. I was surprised at how relieved and happy I was that my Uber driver was a female!!! So happy in fact, that I jumped in her Mazda SUV so quickly I did not realize I had jumped in the front seat. I apologized for making it weird and told her I’d had a few drinks. And I told her how glad I was she was a female and she joked that she could also be a serial killer - which was funny but then it wasn’t for a brief second while I contemplated the possibility of this bleak fact. But before she could smell my fear if she actually WAS one, I said: “True. But I have a better chance of fighting you off than I do a dude. Hehe”. Then we went back to talking about what a bone-head my sister was being and it was like we were BFFs. The ride was super short, about 6 minutes. It was $4 bucks. I gave her a $5 tip and thanked her for listening to me.
Best Uber ride I’ve ever had.
